Picture + 100 Words: Night and Day

night-day-madridI’m neither a professional photographer nor a professional traveler (is that a profession?), but if I can give you one piece of advice when you travel, it’s to take pictures at night. Here is Madrid’s Almudena Cathedral by day and night. If you’re in northern Europe in summer, that will mean waiting until about 10:30 p.m.—but it will be worth it. The best time, I’ve found, is right when the street lights come on and there’s still a hint of light in the sky. Bonus if the ground is wet and reflective like it was for us in Madrid.
