Doing Corpus Christi Right: In Toledo, Spain

When we arrived in Toledo [back in 2012], it was already late in the evening. We started walking and noticed fancy sun shades over the streets with ornate chandeliers hanging from them, decorated balconies, flowers everywhere, and an orchestra doing a sound check on a stage set up in front of the cathedral. What was going on?

Toledo is beautiful on its own, but during Corpus Christi it’s even better.

We didn’t know until that night, back at the hotel, when we looked it up that it was Toledo’s famous feast of Corpus Christi. I could write a ton about Toledo (like how everything truly is uphill in Toledo, or our silly cab ride out of town to the Parador for the great sunset views without figuring out a ride home and having to walk the 3 to 4 miles back to the city), but the city is more beautiful than words (El Greco would agree), so I’ll just share pictures of Corpus Christi in Toledo, Spain.

Didn’t think chandeliers outdoors could look fancier, and then they turned them on at night. Wow.
